(Atlanta News First) — A suspect was detained after multiple gunshots were reported early Friday at a Dunwoody apartment complex, police said. Officers responded around 4 a.m. to Jefferson Apartments at 4867 Ashford Dunwoody Road after several callers reported hearing gunfire. Initial reports indicated someone had fired multiple shots outside Building 7 and that a person inside an apartment might have been dead, police said. Officers checked the apartment and found it vacant, with no victims inside. They later located the resident and confirmed the person was in good health, police said. Brookhaven police detained a suspect without incident and turned the person over to Dunwoody detectives for questioning. The suspect’s name will be released once formal charges are confirmed, police said. Return to Atlanta News First for updates. Copyright 2026 WANF. All rights reserved.
